Default Engine value

I might chase down an OHC on CL, listed as "supposed to still run but no key" to start-test with. presently in a 69 bird. Complete engine with accessories etc. It's a make offer type deal, wondering. If it isn't seized (easy enough to test) what's one of these worth in rough likely needing soup to nuts rebuild???

Had to part with my SD and i may put this into my next bird project, which is going to be a complete street mongrel built from a basket case 2nd gen shell.

IMHO Any asking over $500 better be running or it's just wishful thinking.
1BC Vs 4BC makes a huge difference in price as well.

EDIT;
I see she is a 1BC and it looks like it's been sitting still a very long time.
I would offer $200/300 tops if I needed it, that would be for all parts.
Take a good battery, starting Fl and a remote starter switch with you and give it try.
If you do get it be sure to get the engine mount frame brackets.

aside from the intake and likely cam, any difference head-wise (ports cross-sction/flow, valves sizes etc) between the 1 and 4bbl carb versions? I've always loved the cammers, but they're new ground for me in really knowing much about the differences over the years and different specs.

This is a long term project that i may or may not pursue. If i can get the engine cheap enough, i wouldn't mind throwing a six under the hood vs an 8 and doing a lot of lightening work on the front end.

Both "running" engines I bought had trashed cams and cam followers. I didn't hear the engines running, just word of mouth from the sellers. $250-$300 is right in line with what I'd pay for a complete engine, carb to pan, alternator, starter, flywheel/flexplate, complete.

That being said, one of those engines I simply took apart, cleaned up, and put back together, same bearings, etc and just put a new cam in and followers in it and it ran fine other than smoking some and oil consumption from crap cylinder bores. I then changed the piston rings and run some crankcase vacuum and it solved that issue.
