Well done. What MPH?
Looks like you got good weight transfer which helps.
Still impressive you don't burn tire with an open rear end.

The stock small valve closed chamber 389 heads can be set up to run hard with good valves and high octane. I run mine on a 421.

The MPH was 101.50. Leaving the line has been a balancing act but the last few times at the strip I have been gentle on the clutch release and then straight legging the pedal into 12-14 lbs. M & H slicks or there M & H DOT counterpart.
Yes, high octane is mandatory or at least I haven't found a way around it (stock compression).

Sorry about the delay in posting, I just saw yours now. Thanks

New result, I replaced the stock head pipes but saved them) and installed 2.5 head pipes and cututs. The GTO ran 13.56 @ 102.64.

Reading all those 1960's car magazines with Royal Pontiac coverage is finally paying off :--)

So the 2.5 " head pipes exhaust and open cut outs were only worth a 1 MPH gain?
If I read right, previously you were running stock compression crushed exhaust downpipes through factory type fiberglass mufflers and tailpipes.
Stock would have been 2.25" and 2".

Nice improvement!

It’s hard to exactly quantify the horsepower gained without including weather/density altitude data from one race day to the other.

You're best run was with the initial timing is at 15 degrees..... What is the total and at what RPM does it come in? I had mine curved once, to suit lower octane gas,, and wish I had never touched it. Lost the bottom end torque. I'd like to get it back to factory settings.. I had put more degrees in and slowed up the curve.

As long as you run good gas, the factory curve in the distributor works well.
