Default 65 in Vancouver Wa.

Seems like a sweet deal, assuming it's a true GTO, and not a scam.

Default Scam

Can't be real. 25K would not buy the back half of that car...

Car is listed in Washington, but the seller shows residency in Belgium.

The whole thing looks like a big, scary puzzle to me.

I emailed the guy and he replied to contact his sister. We'll see what happens.

A listing price that isn't even 50% of market value, a listing created by someone in another country, who says to contact his sister, no detailed info about the vehicle, limited photographs that do not appear to be geographically similar to the stated vehicle location, and so on. If you look at the seller's profile, he also has this car listed for sale in over a dozen states around the US. He's doing the same thing with many other vehicles.

THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SCAM.

Here's the 1st and 2nd replies I got from his sister:

Hi!
Thanks for your interest in my 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible. The car has 17,573 miles and it's in perfect condition with clear title, no accident, no liens or loans and it has just been completely serviced. It has 389 - cu. in. OHV V8 Engine with 4-Speed Manual Transmission. I’m the original owner and it is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained. I have a clear title, under my name. I am selling it at this price of $19,000 because my husband died two months ago (he had a heart attack). I also got a new job and moved, and there are many other things taking precedence, so the car needs to go. I want to use eBay services for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing this car, I can notify eBay that you are selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure. I am waiting for your reply.

Respectfully,
Sandra Stewart

Hi again,
As I have told you in my first email, I have a new job and I have moved to Fort Belvoir, VA. Before leaving I had pre-arranged the deal with eBay to handle the entire selling process, so my presence isn't necessary. The car is already in eBay's possession, along with all the paperwork (title signed by me, keys), so I decided to let them sell the vehicle for me. eBay will handle the shipping, payment, and the paper exchange. I signed over a power of attorney which gives them the right to sell the car for me. You'll get free delivery and it'll arrive at your address in 1-3 business days, with all the necessary documents for registration included. It will come with a clear title and reg. You will have 7 days or 250 miles to test and inspect the car. During that 7 days testing period I will not be getting any money. I need to know if you are interested so I can ask eBay to send you the details on this deal. If interested please include in your next email your contact info for eBay (full name, shipping address (city and zip code) and phone number), so we can get the ball rolling.

Respectfully,
Sandra Stewart

They're just going to spoof eBay in some email.
Car guys know eBay doesn't have a used car lot.

I then asked her why it was on Facebook and not eBay. No response. Totally expected none.

I can fly for free since my son is a pilot for Delta.

Usually when I say that I can fly out and have a look in person is when the conversation stops.

LOL! So, she bought this car new in 1965 when she was (say) 21 years old with her hard-earned money. And drove it 300 miles/year for 59 years.

But NOW, at 80 years old she got a new job and just moved cross-country and is willing to get ripped off on her (clearly) prized possession!

Love the mind-twisting logistics on something like this, amazing what scams people try to pull off...

Really have to love the part about eBay stepping up and handling the car and the transaction for her.
That should have lost at least 99% of potential targets/victims.
