Default Cast tripower on Edelbrock heads

Has anyone port matched a stock cast-iron Tripower intake to aftermarket Edelbrock aluminum heads?

Is there enough material in the Pontiac casting to match these up?

I am aware of the new KRE manifolds that have enough material, but I have a customer wanting to use a stock cast iron intake on E heads.

Thanks.

FWIW, I opened up a factory cast iron Q-jet intake to match a pair of max-ported E-heads on my 535. The tops of the ports on the intake got very thin. It dynoed with no leakage. If the heads are as cast you should be good.

Mike -

The alum factory-look-alike manifold I bought from you at Norwalk a few years ago in fact would not cover the E-heads properly (and these are unported heads). The top of the manifold casting and the top of the head port opening were essentially line-on-line.

So I bought the Kauffman manifold to solve the problem, and it's SO big I had to mill some of it down in order for the valve covers to fit, but it did the job.

I've used the aftermarket aluminum Tri-Power intake with Edlebrock RAIV heads. We weld aluminum on to the top of the port area, gasket match manifold ports to match the heads. I grind off the nasty looking welds to make it appear as it did before welding. The end result is really good--very good throttle response and fantastic top end from 3,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm. THis was on a 467 and a 428 engine.

I can find pictures if you're interested.

I also have an origional PY aluminum tripower manifold (new) that seems to have ample room to go to ra4 dimensions ...they were nice castings

Dick, I am currently facing this issue with a customer's engine. Can you post a picture or two of your manifold ? Is this aluminum manifold a dual plane ? Thank you

Here are a couple. You can see in both photos how much aluminum was added.
