Default 70 RAM AIR DISTRIBUTOR

I have a 1970 JUDGE built in March 1970, I have a distributor dated 9G21 which I think is July 21 1969. Is it possible for that distributor to be original to the car with that big of a time span between distributor and car build date? I posted in the 70 tech section with no response so I thought I would try here. thanks

You didn't specify if you car was automatic or manual.

For some reason, Pontiac changed the p/n of the manual transmission distributor from 1112010 to 1112024 some time in late 1969 or early 1070. I had a January 1970 dated 1112024 that I sold a few years ago, so I know they were making Ram III distributors in Jan 1970. At one point I sold a 1970 Ram III WS that came out of a Trans Am. The cast dates on the cast parts were mostly early to mid March, and I remember the distributor was dated close to the rest of the engine. Unfortunately, a lot of cars had their original distributors yanked and replaced with HEI units in the later 70s and 80s.

I have a 9G10 Ram III automatic distributor, 1112009. I had a friend who worked as a mechanic at a GM dealership in the late 60s and early 70s, and he kept any 4-bolt engine that came through and was replaced under warranty. I have seen quite a few RAm III automatics with 9G date codes.

There have been some pretty wide ranges on date codes for starters used on Ram Air & 455HO cars, so who knows.

I can throw my few cents in the ring;
The YZ engine I have has the following dates:
block: A220
intake: A210
heads: J029/J109
distributor: 9G10*

(* =I actually sold that distributor to another member here, but recently purchased a replacement with the date 9G_3)

I don't have the EUN handy, but can post it if that helps...
The Firebird vin would have been 22_870N103636

It is a 4 speed car with distributor part number 1112010. The car is an unrestored numbers matching project. Getting ready to send distributor out for restoration and want to be sure it is or could be original to car. I dont think anyone can say definitely not. unruhjonny has a large time span between his dates also so I think I am ok.

i think key is EUN - it's directly related to when the engine would have been installed in the car;
BTW, since I can share it now, my YZ engine EUN is 0382510
