I'm wondering if the experts can chime in and get me a stamp of approval or tell me what is wrong with this set up. Seller believes it carbs are original to intake, removed from a 64 gto.
Also curious what a ball park price might be to purchase missing components and perhaps replate them? Thanks in advance for your help |

I would ask them to remove the air horns and list the part #'s on the under side.
sould be: Front and rear #7013206 center: #7017917 Float bowls- Front and rear: #'s : 7029683. Center # (AT) 7019929, (ST) 7019927 Manifold #9775088 Every thing you need to restore is available at pontiactripower.com or Dick Boneske @920-450-1040 |

Center carb is correct. End carbs are real Pontiac Tri-Power, but '63 or older. This is not an issue, as they are nearly identical to the '64-'66 end carbs. No need to take the tops off the carbs, as they are definitely correct.
Manifold and thermostat housing is correct for a '64 GTO. The hard-to-find brass TEE fitting is there, in the center carb base. I would offer between $750 and $900 for the setup. I do Tri-Power restorations. I can restore those carbs, add mechanical linkage, and fuel lines. The carbs would be dichromated like the factory did, steel parts plated, bases rebuilt, colored, and DAG213 applied to the end carb throttle plates. If your car has an aftermarket cam, I will calibrate the carbs to run and idle well with whatever cam you have. I would need the cam specs. Here is a picture of a '64 setup I recently did.

First of all I know that it is a lot of work and money to correctly restore a Tri power set up. My question is where do you find a set that is anywhere near correct for less than $1500? Most people selling a set think it is worth an arm and a leg even when it is just a collection of misc. parts. I have a set of 1964's, 1965's and 1966's that I will not sell. Although not absolutely correct they are close. (The 1966 middle carb is one of Ames' old reproductions). I've had them 25-30 years now and being 77 years old I'll probable never use them maybe my boys will. They were all good running units and with new kits would be again.

I found this piece on marketplace, I was out of town visiting family so I had to make a quick decision. the 997 end carbs listed as 63 threw me off. But this is a Jan intake so based on what I've been reading it may be legit(?). I ended up buying it for $1,000. A little more than I wanted to spend but I figured I didn't have to pay shipping... I'll reach out to Dick and Mike for more info.... Thanks all! |

You can find a correct restorable '64 setup for $800-/$1000. Remember, the center carbs are identical for '61-'65, except for some automatic versions with hot idle compensators. The end carbs from '64-'66 are also identical.
You can use the '59-'63 end carbs (997's) on a '64 setup. They are the same as the 683 versions used from '64-'66, with minor cosmetic differences, no differences in performance except that the throttles only open 2/3. This is an easy fix. The earlier center carbs (1959-1960) can be used with minor cosmetic differences. Contact me for misc. parts and/or complete carbs.

Maybe in Wisconsin you can find a correct any year set up for $800 but not any place near me. You are lucky.
