69 RA4 Judge repaint
I've been looking for a 69 ra 4 Judge for a few years. Had a couple of good chances on a carousel red car but they did not work out. So I bought a Vedero green one last year. Car needs paint. Was going to paint it green but am thinking of painting it Carousel red. Dont plan on selling it anytime soon.
Question will it hurt the value of the car to paint it a different color in case I do have to sell it? Last year a mint Expresso brown car did not do that great. I think he could have got the same money if it was painted Carousel Red. Thanks for the advice. |

WELL, my GUT feeling, the closest to stock the more valuable it will be. there are 2000 + carousel red GTOs & Judges. MOST COMMON, BUT there are people out there that LOVE ODD BALLS. The green is NOT a hit BUT if its a RA IV who cares what color it is. ID take a real IV car in any color.
I will mention this, in a local carshow the common MOSTLY WINS. Not everyone knows Judges came in every color, heck they dont even know what a ram air iv motor is.... My carousel red judge (although very nice & clean) beat 2 framed off cars that had every nut & bolt replaced 1 was a 70 judge convert RA IV & the other was a very rare 72 455 ho That was drop dead gorgeous. I won cause everyone knows of the carousel red judge. JUST MY EXPERIENCE, keep it green & you will retain any & all value the car has |

Keep it green!
Painting it orange would devalue car,you have a unique Verdoro green Judge keep it original or sell it to get into an orange RAIV Judge. |

Earth tones are coming back around, I'd go with the green.

Keep it the Original Color of Green, especially on a RA IV Judge.

Verdoro Green has consistently proven to be the lowest valued/desired Color of 1969 for a long time now. And it is ugly on top of that. I've seen some decent greens, but Verdoro is not one of them.
I know I've said it numerous times and probably pissed off several owners - but you can't devalue the lowest value color any further - except by going purple or pink maybe. Seen lot's of Green cars painted Red, Blue, Black, Orange, Yellow, White, etc... never seen it done vice-versa though. You can't really hurt an IV Judge unless you put in a moonroof or T-tops. I don't hate Green cars, I just don't like the color on Green cars is all. |

I would keep any real Judge its original color, if you are concerned about maintaining the maximum value of the car.

Thanks for all that have responded. Barron you make a lot of sense. I'm going to paint it Carousel Red and if I do go to sell it and someone wants it back green then they can spend the 10k to do it. It would be nice if I could find a Carousel red car but the two I know of right now are not priced to sell.

Greeeeeeen !!!!!
Don't be like the all the Lemans and GTO's that are Judge clones and by some un-written law must be Carousel red !
That shade of green is awesome when water sanded and polished out !! Car is too rare to make that huge of a change to it. If ya want an orange car then find a GTO and make a clone . Green is the way to go !! |

I would make it a color that you like. I don't like green cars. My Ram Air IV 70 Judge is White.
