Interesting. I looked on Wallance and didn't see the code listed either. I'm pretty sure it's 10 AC

Misstampings and over stampings don't seem to be that unusual. My '63 is like that.

'A' looks to typically be the code for a 3spd

besides, and like the Superb Owl trophy, the 2010 "most-'62-Pontiacs-at-one-time" trophy doesn't get awarded to the next guy until July...

Rob, glad you got the car!

I'm pretty excited about it. I'm keeping my eye out for a $500 parts car so I can put this thing back together

Robert, just caught up to this post. You know me by now right. I have the solution. Cut off the original bent frame front and graft on runners and---now get this---GASSERRRRR!!!!! Yeah. A '62 GP Gasser would be so great. BUT, then I'm biased. Heh.

MAtt. I am so disappointd in you. You must be getting old and responsible.
In the past you'd still drive that thing home. Bent or not bent. WAAA happened??? Heh. MArk L

I love gassers but 62/63 gassers just don't do it for me. It'll be put back together stock

The frame is only slightly bent. You can't really tell by looking at it but if you feel the round part by the spring you can feel a slight crease in it

I don't think there ever were any 1960s big Pontiac gassers, they were too big and heavy. If the frame is only slightly bent it should be repairable by a good frame shop.

Hey Stuart. you're correct. They went right to the smaller tempests. That's why mine will be very unique. Not politically correct, alot like the owner, heh. I love being different and I think it would be fun and cool. Will be the only one no mattter where I go. Mark L

Robert,

I'm pretty sure you got a good deal. Frames aren't that hard to straighten. More than
likely, its rail are bent at the foward horns. Just make sure you use a qualified frame
straightening service. As far as sheet metal, I fairly sure either Steve Snyder or Steve
Barrack can set you up with everything you need. GOOD LUCK!! Keep us posted on your
progress. LONG LIVE THE DARKSIDE!!!

I didnt think about Steve Barcak but maybe I should contact him.

I'm pretty stoked about this GP. I'm not worried about the frame. It's so minuscule that I could probably mount the bumpers and be able to line them up without straightenin the frame

I finally got it home. I didn't notice until I got it home that a lot of the extra parts he was throwing in are not in the car. He had a nice steering wheel, brand new springs for the front, a few extra tail lights, a new shift knob, a good 4 speed radiator and a bunch of weather stripping. WTF???

Also the fenders he threw in with it are pretty much unusable. One is super rusty and dinged up and the other has some good dents in it also.

I cleaned out the interior and the interior is pretty nice A few small splits in the seats but over all decent. The drivers side power windows work, the power seat works. I couldn't get the passenger windows to work but I didn't try too hard.

The car would run off starting fluid but wasn't pumping any gas. When I first started it I could hear a rocker making a lot of noise. I checked the oil, nothing on the dip stick. I put 4 quarts in it and it sounds better now but still doesn't show anything on the dip stick. What's up with that??? It appears to be the correct dip stick

I guess it's time to get a PHS and see if it's a real 4 speed or not. The guy I bought it from thinks I should just part it out but really the back half of the car is pretty decent. A good front clip would make this a real decent car. It needs paint bad but from the firewall back the body is nice. I don't want to part it out.

I really want a plain jane bench seat cat to convert over so maybe I'll put this one back together until I find my plain jane cat.

I'll post some pictures in a few days. It was too dark to get any good pictures.

On a good note, I did get 15.6 MPG AVG on the trip back in my Dad's Cummins. When I exited off the highway I was at 16.5. I got 20.6 on the way up there with just the 2800 lb trailer. Not bad

Ok, Go back and get the parts that were promised in the deal. I didn't think Kiki had become like that. Also, Where is the good green fender I let him have for the car and the extra parts? Where are the trim rings? The car is a legit standard shift car. I had checked the codes back when I got it. The engine is correct and orignal for the car its a 267 hp 4bbl standard shift block. I had run the numbers.
