One trim piece missing
When I purchased my first 63 LeMans vert in 1990 the guy said everything was there except the drivers side lower trim piece. Being a 4 1/2 long stainless steel piece I assumed it would be easy to get, wrong! I've never seen that trim piece offered yet. He told me that he got some parts off a station wagon model at a local junk yard, so I went to look. The car had 2 other cars on top of it and was sitting on the dirt without wheels.
I saw it had the optional backup lights, so I took those, not easy with it in the dirt. I looked inside and found several tires from ??? and other crap from other cars. There appeared to be a metal piece within all the crap, it was black and I could only see about 10 inches of it. I pulled it out slowly and I couldn't believe it, came out straight and after wiping it clean didn't have a scratch on it! I was excited to say the least. Went to pay for the backup lights & trim. So he told me $20 for the 2 lights and I said, "what about this piece?" He said, "that, you can have it". Little did he know I would have been willing to pay $50 for that trim piece... |

Yeah, wish I had a picture of those cars stacked on top... But here is what she looked like the night I brought her home, not very pretty.
After a little work and paint the trim piece at the bottom of the door. Last edited by Sanduners; 07-31-2013 at 04:24 PM. |
