I think you found your goal of a rough GTO to start with. It's cool that you are reviving a car in that poor condition. If someone ever busts your balls about it, just pull out some of those pics. I'm not really into the Gasser style, but what you are doing to it is better than it rusting the rest of the way into the ground. I can't wait to see it finished. Good luck on your project.

Thumbs up

Phil, you are the man.
I can't believe how much progress you've made on this car in such a short time.

Definitely looking forward to every update here in So Cal.

Default Finally got to do more work on the Gasser

Here are a few more pics of some recent work. Put the fenders on to check out some dimensions for the front suspension and found it to be a little out of square so I took it back to the shop that did the welding on the front rails. I then worked on the firewall and the sealed the floors underneath. I ordered the rear wheel wells for a mini tub job and the 12 pt roll cage too. Also worked around the windshield frame, the dash and the trunks gutter. Plus the drivers sail panel is finished. I had to rebuild the down gutter piece, the part that gets the chrome trim piece, because it was rotted right of. It's back welded back on and finished off.

Not sure 72pontiac, but I love that color in a base coat clear coat paint.

Thanks guys. It's starting to be fun working on it now. I'm very hopeful to have it done this year. It may not be painted but it will be running.

Awsome! What made you deside with the GMC truck front end? I located a solid front axle out of a mid sixties chevy van. But I got several truck front axles. Pros and cons?
Your neighbors, they dont complain?

LOL, I'm actually hoping to move to a house I'm buying real soon. My present neighbors are awesome. I can only hope that my new ones are the same.

As far as the axle, I know a guy that used the same thing on his 65 GTO years ago and he said it worked fine That and I like the I-beam style axles for the looks. I'm sure the van axle will work just as well.
