Your Favorite ......
What is your favorite Factory Original “Wheel Disc Cover” from 1964 through 1974.
Mine is the 1964 “Custom” wheel disc cover. One of the best looking covers of all time throughout the entire auto industry. Wish I owned a set ..... with the car. Chris.

I agree. In the early '80's, I used to drive my Blue Charcoal '65 from Oakland to SF to work my job. About a half a block down, a guy drove an almost identical '64 GTO. Nocturne Blue, blue interior, 4 speed, with those wheel covers. I tried to buy the car, but of course, it was not for sale. It would have complemented my '65 perfectly. Can't have them all! I used to want a set of Custom wheel covers for my '65, as that is what it came with. But, seeing them on the cars in real life, I don't like the way the lip protrudes from the rim....they look awkward. Nope.....the '64 Custom is the way to go!

Me too.
I'm always on the lookout for a set - and a car to go with them. K

I agree with your statement. The 65 Custom Disc stick out from the rim just as the “News Flash” states. 1/8” - 1/4” GAP. Don’t like it. Chris.

Your favorite
Have these on my 64, a set of reproduction covers I bought many years ago. I believe I used my original spinners. These were the most amazing reproduction item I have ever seen in 42 years of messing with these cars. Don’t believe they are even available anymore, and probably haven’t been for many years.

Favorite wheel cover
I never liked these, I thought the only think the left out with these was the little dingle balls hanging from the headliner.

LOL
I agree with a few posts above, that the “Wire Wheel Disc Covers” are less than desirable.
I’ll have to keep these “Wire Covers” on the car as they are Numbers Matching :-) Rob, I just ordered some Survivor “dingle balls” to hang from my headliner. Gonna look awesome! Chris.

I have a couple of sets of the 1964 “Custom” wheel disc covers.
One set was on my car when it was built and the second set I acquired later. I run 15" and 16" wheels now and thinking about moving up to 18" TTDs. Tom V. The 1964 “Custom” wheel disc cover are beautiful wheel covers. Never likes the wire spoke covers. Always looked second rate to me vs the 1964 “Custom” wheel disc cover.

Nope. Not a fan of the spokes, and really would hate cleaning those every time i wash the car! I wish they had the Custom covers in 15". I'd be running those if they did.

Poverty caps....
And you can run them on multiple wheel sizes. I've run them with 14's, 15's and currently 17's. |

The wife opens the dishwasher and finds your hubcaps inside. LOL. Excellent idea though.

I'm prejudiced, as we own two '64 GTO's. In '64, these or poverty caps were the best choice. I have one spare set not as nice as the ones on our cars.
Just a few pictures for grins.

It’s not a full Wheel Disc Cover, but they still count in the Favorite picks of mine.
The famous Rally I Wheels. Starting in 1965 with the cool six flared slots, brushed trim rings and center cap. The ‘65 used a fully polished dish, with a chrome cap that had a black ring painted on top. The 66-68 used a black painted dish with the upper edge polished and a chrome cap without the black ring. This Rally I wheel used a solid chrome acorn lug nut to finish off an awesome look. The Pontiac style Rally I wheel was far better looking than the Chevrolet design IMHO. Chris.

Have to agree 100% with you Chris, the custom spinner wheel covers are number one on my list of factory wheel covers.
I have a couple of sets, but they’re all fair driver quality at best. It’s really a shame that the Hurst wheels were never a factory option on the ‘65 through ‘69 cars. Since we’re on the subject of wheels, for sure the ‘64 wood wheel beats them all hands-down.
