Default Red 1970 Judge on BAT

I've got a friend who's looking at this car. Anybody know the car or have any opinions they'd like to share about it to help him out?

Seems to be an extraordinary example with 16xxx miles.
Shocking it lived in NY all its life with such little corrosion on the bits.
Pretty amazing overall .

I'm going to guess the driver fender was replaced when it got bumped.
Look at the wrong fasteners at wheelhouse to fender.

Wheels all appear to be correct JL code but have witness marks that look like trim rings were installed only once for a short time in the past.

Weatherstrips and belt strips all look good.

Rocker moldings look polished instead of anodized and it has the "factory goof" front valance moldings.

Hi BVZ, can you elaborate on this?

Thanks

One of the factory manuals calls for the valance trim to be a delete on 70 WT1 / Judge option.
But some original cars have them anyway.

Wheel mouldings added, probably done along with the door edge guards. Another that appears to have not had the chin spoiler installed. Very cool car.

Any input on if it appears original paint and overall survivor level of the car? I know it’s hard to be for certain without seeing the car in person but you guys see any signs that say otherwise? Did they paint the door strikers from the factory? Is that touch up paint on the brightwork top of windshield drivers side or factory? Any input helps

Seller says the car got bumped in its younger days.
Painted the Hood , Driver Fender and Driver Door ,,,, I think they might have also painted the bumper but it isn't mentioned.

They never look quite as good in person as they do in the pictures ,,, unless its a fresh high end resto.

A whole lot of positive goodness and only a few small nitpicks like the driver fender hardware and voltage regulator - and he stated a few things are in-op .

Original comfort weave seat material is another huge positive.

The OO Judge on there last week went from 45k to 80k in the last minutes.
This one might be a similar type finish

It’s a super survivor example for a 70 Judge!

Not sure paint and bodywork disqualify it for those things. Many other things really make it so cool to see as original.

The exhaust tips look original. But, exhaust, shocks, undercoating look recent.

Master cylinder looks replaced.

80k and did not meet reserve .
Seemed like that was a pretty gracious number.

It might could do a little better if it was dry ice blasted underneath , and all the part number and date codes listed out all the way down to the drums and rotors.
And fix the in-op stuff.

What do you guys think about the 80k high bid ?

I think the $80k was a fair price for how it showed. If the driver side was all one matching color would certainly help and, as you suggested, was detailed better on the bottom side, all the component dates pictured, it could have pulled upwards to $100k... which I think the owner was gunning for.
