Default New Guy

Hello Pontiac people, this is my first post. I’ve been a long time lurker on the forum. Lots of good information. I purchased a 1 owner 68 GTO back in June. I was involved in the restoration in 2003 and also detailed the car for shows over the years since. Unfortunately my good friend and original owner passed away in October of 2019 after a 5 year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Some of you may know the car. It’s Nightshade Green with an Ivory painted top and Parchment interior. 400 HO, 4 speed, 3:55. I hope you guys don’t hate me for owning a Chevy and a Buick !

Welcome! I was a Chevy guy "back in the day" with a 72 Nova and 66 Chevelle...both 6-cyl. As you can see I also own a Mopar, and they haven't kicked me out yet...lol!

Welcome to the Forums.

Post pics of the 68 GTO 2 tone paint that you have.

I have a 69 GTO 2 tone paint 4 speed project for sale. Don't see many of the 2 tone paint GTOs.

Welcome to another '68 guy!
If that car was ever featured in a national magazine I know the car you are talking about. Always was one of my favorites. And even if it's not the car it's the same color. Nightshade is in my top 5 favorite colors for '68.
Not sure if this pic will show due to the Photobucket debacle...
The second pic is I THINK the same car but hard to tell if the top is painted or vinyl.

Yes Greg, that is the car. It was featured in High Performance Pontiac and Hemming’s Muscle Machines.

Hi Mike, I work on a couple local Mopars. They are cool cars too, but I think the quality is a little less than Pontiac’s of the same era.

“True car guy” Yes it is a sickness, and I have had it bad since I was a kid!

68 pics. Yes, the air cleaner is wrong. Original owner always borrowed one from another local guy for shows. Any of you guys have a nice one for sale?

Big difference if you had the 2 colors side by side. My brother has a '68 Bonneville that was Nightshade Green - had a grey look to it. My '68 Lemans is Verdoro Green - definitely a green. The photo just does not bring out the color.

By the looks of it the top is painted, not vinyl. But it sure is a beautiful car, and color.

The color would even look good on a 66 or 67 GTO.

Just saw the pics for the first time. Needless to say drool is running from my mouth. A 68 is the GTO I always wanted, and yours is a fabulous color combination and I’m guessing a rare one.

Are you guys sure you're not thinking of Spring Mist Green ? This color looked silver in certain lighting...

Nope. It has a grey tone to it - I painted it.
