Default Firebird seat padding

I am getting ready to order new seat padding and upholstery and wondering who's
product you guys recommend.

This is for a 68 Firebird deluxe front bucket seat pair in black.
I spoke with ACI and they are not offering the 68 padding in deluxe and that
threw me for a loop.
I was also told Legendary and PUI are the better names in upholstery??

Thanks

Gerry C

I ordered Legendary as soon as they were available for the First Gen Firebirds. They were late in delivering which was frustrating as I had a deadline(2011 Trans Am National with some buffer to get all the bugs worked out). I did not actually do the install, I did ask my interior guy if there was a marked difference over the "regular" product out there. He said it was a little better but that from the view of the person sitting on the material, he didn't think they would notice the difference.

So basically, your mileage may vary.

Are you looking for originality or function ??? If you aren't to concerned about originality check out TMIs sport seats. They have a little bigger bolster support. Have gotten good reviews so far.

Have you checked with our host or Ames? I have deluxe interior and I think I ended up getting the foam from Ames. I cant remember what brand it was but the girl that did my seats recognized the brand as being a good one. How sure are you that the foam for the standard interior is different than the deluxe? I always thought they would be the same, that just the covers were different. I know the foam was oversized and they had to be trimmed some to get the covers to fit.

Default seat foam

I got the foams and covers from our host and they are from PUI.

I will update on how the install goes. PUI has a great video of an actual deluxe setup
being installed on there website. And makes sense to get foams and covers from same vendor.

Yes the deluxe and standard foams are different I even confirmed that with PUI.

that's weird on ACI saying they don't have them, as they show deluxe '68 cushions in their catalog online: http://americancushionind.net/categories/firebird.php

Default ACI

I chked with 2 of their vendors and they were both out of stock and did not have a good
ETA on availability.(mid summer 2013) Talked to them direct and was told they don't know when they would do another run of the ones I needed.

Also it was recommended that I use the same company for foam and upholstery to reduce
fitment issues. PY has always been a great to deal with and I went with them.
