I am a little retentive and try to keep everything organized. Otherwise I forget where I put things.

Me too. Been out there for three day's. Son say's it still looks the same. Anybody need a set of piston and rods for a 1981 Dodge 2.2L new ? Seem to not get rid of anything just relocating to a different part of the garage

Got a bad habit of saving spark plugs removed doing tune ups over the last 5 decades. Will never ever use any of them, but I got a bucket of them just in case!

I have realized that I am missing something every garage should have. A coffee can full of random bolts. I have been playing with my stuff. Painting my calipers. Cleaning tools. That sorta thing

Definitely applies to me. I told my wife that after finding all of my hand tools I shouldn’t have to buy any for the next 10 years. I discovered I own 5 10mm sockets.

Oh boy!
I have a wooden crate under one of my rolling benches that has a crate full of bolts removed over the last 3 decades that's splitting apart at the seams, plus several coffee cans full. My wife says I'm a hoarder. I disagree, hoarders save junk that isn't useful.

I sorted all my nuts, bolts, screws and washers into different cans. I have a tub for electrical and misc. When I need a bolt or nut I go to the store and buy a pack. Easier than dumping the can on the counter and going through the pile. Plus, the leftovers from the pack get to go into the can for future non-use!

Well at least I'm not the only one. And I agree- nobody could see any difference in the garage. But I am stimulating the economy, by buying parts to resurrect some "found" items (like the circular saw I built in shop class in 1957).

I have a set of Metric and Standard thread checkers ... the kind on a cable you screw the bolt into on one side and thread a nut on the other side ... if I'm really bored I go down at night, listen to crazy people on late night AM radio and sort through the used bolts and put them in their labeled drawers.
