I think it's a super-cool drag car, esp for $14k. Drag cars are supposed to look a little off and I think it does a good job. All you purists just move along . . . nothing to see here.

If I wasn't so polite....and politically correct....I'd say YOU should move along....

You are in the WRONG sandbox......we are YOUNG guys...with Firebirds,

The OLD guys...with OTG's hang out elsewhere....but I'm SURE they don't like chevolet motors in THEIR old Pontiacs either......

Why would you care what motor is in someone else's drag car?? Anything goes in that arena. This debate gets old real fast.

Why not? Is my opinion not welcome? I love the early birds as much as anyone and have had a couple, just don't have one right now.

This particular car is probably not a good selection for a resto guy, is all I'm saying -- much like the thread title suggests.

The 550 hp it might actually make could have been easily done with a 455 Pontiac and HR cam.

Why do you say it can't be restored? I think it could. It would be a lot of work and $$, but possible.

I'm in the "it's rather cool looking" camp, if he hadn't started with a real T/A, I'd have no problem with what he did to it.

It was likely built so long ago that it was hard too know what a mistake it was to ruin a 70 T/A. It looks like it didn't sell at 14,000 and it needs paint, so I wouldn't want to go higher.

But if you got it for 10,000 and converted back to Pontiac power and a T/A hood you could really have fun with it.

If the car had a sunroof, a cowboy hat poking out the top would be epic.
