Tire Date Gurus Needed
Got a couple pairs of 245/60-15's I've been saving for normal driving, not for show days. But the date codes have me puzzled. They are 313 and 333. I recall the first two digits are the week of a given year, but how do I know whether the year is 1983, 1993, 2003 or 2013?

IIRC, tires manufactured since the year 2000 are required to have a four digit date code, two digits for the week of the year, and two digits for the year. Three digits with a 3 in the third space would indicate no newer than 1993. But make sure you are looking at the side of the tire with the date code, sometimes only one side has the complete tire ID number.(with the date included)

Ok, that sounds familiar. 2003 would be xx03 and 2013 would be xx13. Wow! That means these tires are at least 23 years old. Probably should go in the scrap heap then.
