Default Any experience with Olympic brand lifts?

Anyone here have experience with Olympic brand 4 post lifts? I believe they are only sold on the West coast. This would be for long term storage only, but we do have occasional moderate earthquakes here, so needs to be stout.

Does not matter if they used for 5 minutes or 5 years, with your cars I would only use a well known professional brand. Nothing worse than saying, "I should have......".

This could be you.....

You’ve Googled for reviews from people that have actually used them I suspect.

Try to buy a certified lift. Most of the low cost ones are not. Direct Lifts are and only cost a little more.

You are doing good by asking around, but if theyre local, maybe find out if they have installed any local to you and check them out in person. Just because theyre local doesn't mean theyre not good. There was a small company near Pitt. called backyard buddy, I thought they were kinda silly until I saw them at Carlisle one year. They made a quality lift, and I think they are getting a bit more recognition now.

But those only go high enough to change a tire right?

Backyard Buddy is actually a pretty popular brand. They make conventional four post lifts that you can park a car underneath.

I have seen them, they are fairly well built. If I recall, they can be stationary (bolted) or on wheels. With that said, I still would not use anything less than a Rotary, BendPak, or anything else found in a well used professional shop. My ass-ets are worth a hell of a lot more than the few bucks you save on a lesser known brand.

Agreed! Not to mention if it decides to collapse and you’re under or near it my life is worth the few bucks more to have a well known and used by the pros everyday piece of equipment in the shop.

Love their reactions. Yeah - go ahead and grab that truck as it's tipping over - that'll stop it. That one is certainly operator error caused, as are most of the "failure" pictures you'll see. (Including the ones posted on threads here repeatedly.)

If you buy a 4-post, you need to watch while you're lowering it to make sure one of the locks isn't still engaged. It'll probably happen to you when you first start using your lift, but it's obvious when one corner is 5 inches higher than the rest. If, like a dunce, you keep lowering it until it's 2 feet higher and the car's center of gravity is significantly changed; well, you're going to have a bad day.

The first time we put my bird on the lift, and it locked at the first level it scared the you know what out of me how loud it was locking in at each level. I wasn’t prepared for that.

Earthquakes even as small as tremors, can move the ground somewhat. I personally wouldn’t want my cherished cars stored on a lift at all, however if you don’t have a choice, I’d pay a little more and get a good one that is securely anchored. Just my opinion. Good luck!

I was born in Cali, I know all about the earth shaking it’s booty out there. I don’t think I’d even store my cars on my Bend Pak here where I live now.
