Default Any ideas how I can keep my hood open?

I had a Glasstek fiberglass hood installed on my '71 GTO following a latch failure and bought the springs that Glasstek sells with hood. The body shop cautioned me that the hood barely stays up and Glasstek has no clue as far as a recommendation beyond a prop-rod ... "It's a race car hood you know."

The glass hood is no feather weight either but I know the tock springs will over-stress the hood. I hate to install a pair of gas assist struts but may have to.

Any dealt with this before and come up with a fix?

Are the new springs big enough around to put a small helper spring in the middle?

Sounds like you only need a little bit more pressure.

Excellent idea! I can slip a smaller spring inside for just a bit more tension. Man I wish I’d have been born smart instead of so good looking! Lol
