Default Rat Rods

Anybody into rat rods. Buddy of mine just finished his Henry J. He's got three of them. He's got a 61 Falcon and 40 Hudson on a F150 4x4 frame. He's got quite the imagination.

That certainly is unique. I thought that rat rods were cars that were deconstructed, almost a little too far and devoid of superfluous details. Either way, I wouldn't drive it personally but these are cars that I like to check out at shows.

Being someone who restores most of my customer's cars to an original state, I can also appreciate the ingenuity and effort that is required for these modified cars. Both require different talents that I really do appreciate.

Around here: 1930's REO Truck with a Cummins Diesel (sounds great, looks completely weathered yet mechanically solid).

One of my favorite type cars because of the imagination used to cobble them together. Some are very well thought out and engineered, while others, I can say, should not be on the road.

Many are chopped and sit so low that there is no way I could fit. I have seen some go by that the driver/passenger are almost laying down flat to fit under the roof section. LOL

And when I think of a Henry J, there is only 1-way to build it and it is not as a rat rod.

I guess those cars do fall into a rat rod category, but i never thought of them that way.
When they show up around here people refer to them as
Fury Road
Metal Militia
Beast Rod

As soon as sneak-previews and paparazzi pictures of MadMax FuryRoad started popping up on the internet, people started building them and doing car shows.
Most of them around here have been pretty heavy on the wasteland/crude effects.

Your friends' car would actually look great with a slick paint job on the base body.
Most of them, paint would not benefit .

I like it.
To me his is a cross between FuryRoad and RatFink artwork.

That car I’m not sure I would call it a rat rod not near enough rust. Seems like rat rods have kinda run there corse and are disappearing like the ricers have at least in this area. You might see a couple at a show but not like a few years back.
