Eric White's GTOAA illustrated GTO/GT-37 guide will show you all options for wheels for your car.

There's an accessories guide at the Old Car Brochure website that shows the different wheel covers that were available. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/stati.../dirindex.html

Link worked for me. See if this one takes you to the wheel and hubcap brochure.

The upper right is the one I recall seeing the most.

You had four choices on a Midsize or Firebird in 69...

first is the standard equipment "dogdish", it came with a black wheel or on certain bodycolors you'd get the wheels sprayed body color if you had these small caps. It wasn't a factory option in 69 (it was some years in the 70's) but dealers did sometimes offer to install trim rings from rally wheels, its a nice look, especially if you have a body color wheel.

Second is the Deluxe Wheelcover option ($21.06), this was also included with the popular decor group option, the six spoke look is attractive but it is actually smaller diameter than the wheel leaving a half inch of black wheel exposed beside the tire. it makes the car look like it has 13" wheels.

Third was the Custom Wheelcover option, ($41.07), a much nicer look than the deluxe and it covers the full wheel. They are very rare, I guess the price being double that of the Deluxe was a deal killer most of the time. They also have a particularity in that they always look like they aren't properly installed because they stick up out from the bead about 1/4". Probably to avoid the tire pushing them off on hard cornering.

Last choice apart from Rally II's was the Wire wheelcover ($73.72), a really attractive design (much nicer than the earlier years version that really protruded out), They weren't a common option but because they were identical from 67-72 they are easy to find today but they were prone to curb rash and like all these wheelcovers center cap fade is usually pronounced on almost every used set.

Not mine but found these online, the "dogdish" car has the trim rings as I mentioned earlier and the red car is the Deluxe Wheelcover.

No one can make them (or her) look as good as the PMD marketing department!

My dad bought a brand new 1969 Custom-S 2 door post and it had those covers on it, they looked nice on that car. I learned how to drive in that car, and took my drivers test in that car. I wish it was still around. Went to the crusher in 1986...Minnesota winters gave it cancer.
