Default 1970 T/A engine call out on shaker

How many of the 1970 owners have put the decals for Ram Air or Ram Air IV on their shaker scoop?

I'm really fighting the urge to put the RAIV decal on the shaker knowing it is incorrect.

I know it is my car and I could put it on...

I would leave decals off shaker. But that's me.

Does one really need a “call out” on a Trans Am?

When I first purchased my car, back in 80, I put white stickers matching the Trans Am script on the flapper door that says Ram Air. You basically only see it from inside the car. Still there after all these years.

Well, since no air is getting "rammed" into that scoop (it faces the wrong way, and is too far from the high pressure area at the base of the windshield)...

No.

I am probably going to put the "Ram Air IV" decal on my 1970's TA's white shaker: original lucerne blue/deluxe/4 speed car with 979915 January 1970 block with faint "s" WS stamp.

When I first laid eyes upon this car in November 1979, it had blue "SD 455" decals on the shaker.

If it's running IV Heads , definitely put IV decals on the shaker.
It identifies

But if it's running Edelbrock Heads , i wouldn't put Edelbrock on the shaker though

/\ ha!!

When you stop to consider that most years and drivetrains had callouts, the lack of callout on a '70, makes it that much more unique.

All years other than 70 had a motor call out on the shaker. 70’s deserve their uniqueness.

There, I fixed that for you

I recall that some years, the base engine had no callout.
I also believe, but my be wrong on this, that 1979 credit option 301 cars had no shaker callout.
All I'm trying to point out is that thematically you are correct, but there are exceptions.

No shaker decals for me. Anyone who knows what they're looking at will know it's incorrect right off the bat.

Early 71's didn't have it either.

Why add one if it's not? Anyone who may be impressed will also know it's wrong. Most 78 models also had no call-outs.

I have never heard or have seen documentation that any 71’s came without 455ho affixed to the shaker. I’m always a never say never but is there any documentation of this ?

How "EARLY" are you talking?

I've posed the question here before as to earliest build date known for a '71 model Firebird. If I remember right it was late June, early July 1970, maybe? Anybody know anything earlier?

I think 70 & 71 shared the same part number shakers, but have never saw or heard of a '71 without the 455 H.O. decal.

If this is so, could it be because the shaker decal was late to the assembly line and they sent them on out without the call-out just like the '70s ????

This will make me study my assembly manual revision dates.
