Default Making some noticable progress on the 535

I have slowly gathered the hard parts ( 2 years since I began) but the block is back from the machine shop. I Started checking clearances before taking the rotating assemble for balancing. That way if anything needs work I can get it all done at once.
Checked bearing clearance, thrust clearance, piston to valve, deck height, cc'd the chamber to verify comp. Ratio, and test fitted the Moon Valley cover I bought from Tom V. I really would like to use it, but the water cross over doesnt even come close to clearing it. I may have to fabricate a tubular water cross over. The cam was tight in the cam bearings so I need to do a little work there.

The “X” intake and that valley cover look good!
The PONTIAC etched on the valve covers looks pretty cool too!

Thanks guys. I am looking at using a remote thermostat housing and #12. Lines from each head ( that may be easier than fab'ing a tubeular cross over.) so I can use the valley cover

Scott,
Looks good. Lot of welding on the intake manifold. Was that cut down the middle for porting?

Yes. This is Warped's old stuff. I bought the top end from him. I dont know how much work was done to the intake. Looks to me like he had to change from a 4150 carb pad to 4500. Thats a guess on my part though

It wasn't cut apart. I'm guessing but it looks like they took a 4150 manifold and made it a 4500 manifold. But thats a guess.

Alex had very good numbers on the dyno by a reputable shop. Im not going to rehash what he said it made, because I have lowered the compressiin by almost 2 points. But it will make more power than my car is currently set up for. Im sure it will be fast enough for me, for now..lol.. Alex did alot of reaearch and talked to smart people when picking his combination.

I like it. I just missed buying a Mickey Thompson valley cover. Looks similar to the AP cover. But I like to have odd parts.
