Shouldn’t be a problem.

I use thecalculator onSD Performance site.

With zero deck height
7 cc valve reliefs total
.039 head gasket.

I get 10.3:1. With aluminum heads that should be a plenty safe deal.

Of course all the details make a diffetence...

Should be no problem at all running that combination on 91 octane pump gas, if it is cammed correctly

30 over 400 with 74 cc 290 KRE d ports. 10.14 cr. H-O 744 HL cam. Slight detonation on 87, none on 91. 30* total mechanical advance.

Ok so what’s your initial on top of your mechanical 30 degrees?

That camshaft should work very well with your combination on 91 octane ... I would start conservative with timing, probably 30° total. The chamber design in those Kauffman heads usually don't require much more than that. Also, make sure the fuel side is up to par, whether it is a Carb or EFI, and you should be good to go as long as you keep coolant temp in check.

Let me rephrase that. 30 total; mechanical + initial, no vacuum..

You should be able to pee in the tank and be fine with that cam.

You also need vacuum advance, at least if you want the best power, efficiency and throttle response for "normal" driving. With that combo about 10-12 degrees would be plenty....IMHO....
