What were the engine options on the 71 V-II coupes. I have bought one unseen and want to put my spare 400 in it. Were the stocks Pontiac or Ch*vy? 307? 350?
Thanks,
Joe

Joe,

'71 Ventura's came with 250 6 cylinders, or 307 Chevy's & 8.2 Chevy monoleaf rearends.

The 350 Pontiac engine was not introduced in the Ventura lineup until the '72 model year. if you want to go Pontiac V/8 in the '71, pull the engine stands out of a '71-74 V/8 Ventura.

By the way, I had to post over here... this is the loneliest section of the board

Thanks OPH,
It is pretty quiet over here. I'll make a sleeper out of this old Nova cousin. There's not a whole lot out on this step-child, Pontiac is there ? I've got a '70 400/th350
with #16 heads that will put some personality back into her. It's a granny car that's been asleep a long time. Finding Later model Pontiac Ventura engine stands may be a pain. Not a very popular collector and most are probably cubed and stewed.

Another "quiet" subject, 1964 Olds Ninety-Eight. The last 394 cid.
I've been trolling for weeks.

Joe

Mojo, The frame brackets aren't that hard to find, just a pain to pull. Need to ck with one local yard as they had a couple 71-74's.

Didn't see you at the Dallas swapper, but I blew through fairly fast. Spent most of Friday, Sat, & Sunday over in Dallas stripping in one yard.

Thinking of coming down again soon. Have not run the yards out on Jacksboro Hwy or over in Weatherford in a long time. I especially would like to hit the nightmare jungleyard down the road by Eagle Mountain. Will e-mail & maybe we can meet @ Angelo's in Ft Worth. Pray for good weather...Roger

Hello Roger-
I was out at the swap meet just long enough to get soaked. Sunday I picked up a '62 Olds 4GC Carb for 5 bucks, then it poured. I'd like to rummage the yards at Eagle Mountain also. I'm glad to know who the Ol' Pinion head is!! Man you know these old Pontiacs.
Email me when you are heading to Cowtown next and we'll do Angelos for sure. **ON ME**

the f- body engine stands will fit in these cars also. the subframes are close if not an exact duplicate.
just think, t/a suspension parts and you could try the road races. that'd blow some minds in the tech area i bet. mike

Thanks Mike,
Good to know. I'm not sure what this thing will evolve into. I can't spend too much on this one. My 72 bird is still unfinished. I have a buddy with a 72 Nova (383) that is a little uncomfortable with the idea of a similar Pontiac contender in the making.
