Default Jet size for Tri-Power

I purchased from PY the 1966 complete Tri-Power kit and its great, but I would like to know if anyone knows what the jet sizes installed are. I'm running a 461 Butler engine kit, and I need more Fuel.

Cheers Frank

I would start with 73-68-73, but there will be some trial and error. Plus a larger than stock cam will probably require a few other changes, depending on what engine the tri-power was manufactured for.

Don't know if you use ethanol in your gas there in Aussieland but if you do, you need a notch or two larger sizes

Hi Frank,

To find out what jets are in the PY Tri-Power setup, I have had good luck posting questions for the PY folks in the "PY STUFF" section right above "THE LOBBY" section.

As for the upsized jets, I took Old Man Taylor's advice about 7 years ago and installed the 73-68-73 setup on my stroker engine and it was a very good starting point. I don't remember if that is what I am still running in the center because I was chasing an idle problem, a few years ago. I do know the front and rears are still 73s.

Jim

I use 73-63-73 in my setup. (435cui) It depends on so much things that it's hard to say which setup will be best, you have to test it.
Bigger jets in the outer carbs are needed if you use high rpm's and have a good flowing exhaust and headers.
If they are build to original specs they might be in the range of 68-73 in the outer carbs and 60-62 in the center carb. My original 66 setup used 68-60-68.

I bought some 68s yesterday but I havent had a chance to fit them. We do have Ethanol, but I do not use it, I prefer 95 or 98 which is readily available. I'll keep you updated.
