I've heard that Hilborn kept records on the original purchasers of their injector setups, but that doesn't necessarily tie the original owner of the manifold to the car....it's possible Vic Hubbard bought the manifold and then re-sold it to someone else who put it on this engine and in this car.

VIC HUBBARD SPEED AND MARINE closed about two weeks ago. I know a couple of employees who said they went to work and the doors were locked. Rumor in the area is that the speed shop was bought by another company and will reopen in a month. The name will still be VIC HUBBARD.

Way cool, wish I would've found it when I had the money. Old Hilborn injection on the street with a 4 speed, no way to price that. Good to see that it went to someone that appreciates old cool stuff and hopefully will preserve it.

That is one wild as hell car !
My new favorite 55 Pontiac of all time. They built that thing intentionally to go out on the streets and kill other peoples pride and ego. No telling how many asses it kicked way back when. Over the top with old school awesomeness |

Received this digital version, of the Hot Rod article of the '55 Poncho Chieftain, today with details & color images; enjoy!
Congrats to the new owner! Out of the Barn Greg Mettelka recently sold the Pontiac to Nathan Douglas, a psychoanalyst from Chicago. “I was really excited to receive the old relic, it looks all business,” said Nathan, who collects old 421ci Super Duty Pontiacs. “[The 421 SD] is arguably still the best normally aspirated Pontiac V8.” With help from friend Jim Simms, Nathan plans on either mechanically restoring the car so he can drive it, or leaving it untouched as it has been for so many years. “We might just leave all the California golden-age-of-speed grime alone rather than do a full mechanical restoration. Create an honest period hot rod.” Read more: http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicl...rid=1991364729 |

If Foose did it he'd do something stupid like put a crate SBC in it and stupid looking 18in wheels.
