Al Knoch Interiors Dash Pad resto
Anyone used Al Knock Interiors for a dash pad restoration recently? Just wondering about the quality and service. I know JustDashes is the best but they are getting quite pricey and turnaround times are long.
I have a 71 A-body dash that needs redone. Thanks

Have assembled & installed numerous Just Dashes remolded 2nd Gen and '69-72 Pontiac A-body dash assemblies over the last 25 years, & I will not use their remolded dash assemblies for very high point restorations. Every time, the result has been TOO PUFFY. Have no problem shipping them '69 GP lower door panels (which I have), or earlier small dash pads.
Examined a remolded '70-71 Pontiac A-body dash assembly from Al Knoch 2 years ago. A long time serious Concours restorer & National Judge had AK remold it. Maybe he will post pics. I was very satisfied with the shape & appearance. Have 6-8 larger dash cores to get to Al Knoch's for remolding, hopefully by June.

I experienced the very same problem with a '78 T/A dash pad. Could not get the instrument bezel into the opening with out causing damage to the pad. Of course, when I contacted the company I learned that NO ONE ELSE EVER had that problem, therefore I'm doing something wrong. The solution was I used a heat gun to warm the opening and forced the curved upper corners outward with the outer wall of a large socket. Once cool, I repaired and spotted the damage I caused. I guess that's why they supply the bottle of color. Never again. |

Thanks all for responses. I pulled the trigger and sent my 71 dash pad out to Al Knock last week. Estimated 2-3 week turnaround. Hoping for the best. Ill report back after I receive.

This thread prompted me to get a request out to JD to quote having my 69 Firebird dash pad redone. I know the economy has driven material and labor costs up by I was a bit surprised at this

I'm a very satisfied customer. Here are some before and afters of my dash:
I think the turnaround time from when I shipped it out late last summer was around 1.5 months. |

I used RD Autoline in Sweden - yes, Sweden! - for my 1958 Buick.
They were cheaper and faster than Just Dashes, even including shipping to & from Michigan. The work was absolutely perfect and they will color match to your sample. http://autoline.se/?lang=en_us

Sent a 1970 GTO/LeMans dash out around Christmas 2021, received 2 months later. Came back tweaked and a dimple. At least it was the same one I sent out. Spent some time cleaning excess slag.

The thread title was "Al Knock (Knoch) Interiors Dash Pad resto" so it's an Al Knoch dash pad resto.

I had the dash i the 81 TA done by Just Dashes. I'd just give it a B. Many holes were covered over. As other said some on the bezels were tight getting back in. Pricey ans several months wait time.

I looked at Al Knock website. Do they restore 66 Catalina dash pads?

I'd be curious as well. Looks like we are both 66 Catalina owners in KC

Had my '69 GTO dash and glove box lid redone by Just Dashes. I give them an A+. Expensive yes but cost and wait was worth it to me.
I was super impressed with how they made the original glove box lid fit so well. It was a bit warped and I didn't ever think it could fit perfectly. They told me they could and they were right.

KK68, I was just wondering if you've received your dash pad back yet and if so, what you think of it? I'm thinking of sending mine there too so I'm curious.... Thanks
