Default 1968 standard steering wheel roundness

Are 1968 round when new? I have three old 68 wheels and the height is 1" shorter the the width on all three. Were they originally oval?

Does anyone have a round stock wheel in their 68?

I have a 68 orignal that has a couple small cracks, but never messed with otherwise. I can measure it a bit later tonight.

I have a nice 68 wheel and they are definitely not round

I guess I'll just fill the cracks and not worry about it then.
Thanks

I've never measured one but they always looked a little elongated to me. I have two at home that I can measure if needed.

I'm restoring mine and just wanted to know if I should be trying to stretch out the top. I never noticed it till I had it on the bench.

My deluxe steering wheel is definitely oval, 16” wide x 15” tall. A couple cracks on horizontal spokes may have accentuated the ovalness from original but no more than 3/16” to 1/4”

Both of mine are exactly the same...15x16. One is completely deteriorated and the other is almost mint.

I guess that's how they are. I don't see how they could distort over time
