1967 Firebird Coupe - Rear Speaker Install

Hi All. can someone tell me how rear speakers were installed at the factory? Was the perforated section in the carboard rear parcel tray cut out & speakers mounted from above or were they mounted from below in the trunk and the perforations left in place?
