Default Sinus issue

I've never had any sinus issue ever. For a few months now I've had a night time issue with my right side nasal passage. If I lay on my stomach, it will start to drain and I have to wake up to blow my nose. We moved into a new office, but I'm not sure that's the cause. Yesterday morning I woke up and laid on my stomach long enough to cause it to drain. I got up and blew my nose to find a nice little bloody piece of garbage--and I could breath well until late in the evening when they started clogging up again.

However I do have one issue that I've always delt with sometimes AFTER I blow my nose, the right side will emit a whine as it equalizes pressure after the blow. It sounds like one of the sinus cavities do it.

What causes these things to just start happening--the new draining issue that is?

Age has a lot to do with it. I didn't start having sinus problems until I hit my mid forties.
The extreme dought we are suffering through could be another cause. No rain to clear the air of pollen and such.

Mold is really high this time of year, all over the country. I use a nasal steroid, every morning, called Nasacort. For years I had problem with sinus infections and allergies during high periods of mold and pollen(fall and spring). This pretty much eliminated all that sh!t. The blood you found is inflamed nasal tissue. The steroid corrects this but it takes about 1-2 weeks to really kick in. A combination of the steroid and a prescription allergy medication(I take Zyrtec-D for decongestion) will help you tremendously, but talk it over with the doc first, OK?

P.S. I didn't have sinus issues until I was about 30, I blame it on all the new organic, "non-bad-for-you" food my wife makes me eat...

I started in my mid 20's,suffered for yrs with over the counter meds.I would be stuffed for days with no drainage, then drainage down my throat at night.About 10 yrs ago I went to a specialist wasn't much help.My wife suggested another I was disgusted,so I treid him.He has been a great help.I spray Astelin once AM.,PM and seem too be helpful. Also I get a allergy twice a month.this all reduces the severity bigtime for me.My allergies are dust,cat-dog dander.I work in stone quarries, and we have 3 cats and a dog.been trying to get another assignment away from the dust.

Sounds like you have a sinus infection. You should go see an E.N.T. Ear, Nose & Throat doctor. It may be possible for them to solve your problem within the first vist.

You quit drinking beers didn't you! haha. No but seriously. I have had sinus problems since my late 20s. Allergies was my deal. Pine tree mold to be exact. It cause a lot of problems until I found out what was going on. I would take care of it as soon as you can (see a doctor). Other problems can happen from post nasal drip (stomach upset/etc.) Since I moved from my old house (in the pines) I have only seasonal problems which are manageable.

I blame it on the steriod filled foods we eat today. Plus we don't "do as much" as we used to. Exercise has helped keep my air ways open. Sorta like a 1/4 mile bast down the track will clear up your fuel lines and blow that carbon out !

Good luck and take care.

Very little beer--Gotta change that honey. Docs orders. Thanks, I'm mid 40s and it's super dry as mentioned. A while back I thought I was getting a sinus infection and took an 11 day cycle of the Doxy but got no results. That's what the doc always gave me when I was remodeling my duplex yrs back---because I used to get infections from the dust until I learned to flush my nose out after work. But no help this time around--no difference.
It's probably age, dry conditions (allergies/mold) and possibly weight could be playing a factor too. I noticed my breathing is more labored after adding 20 lbs a couple of yrs ago.

Yup - I'm 39 now and I just lost 20lbs (now 180) and it has improved a lot of things. Exercise will help in more ways then all the treatments out there. Tuff to get started and to maintain.... but it will work. I think some of these things are "food allergies" all these chain food places... don't know what's in the stuff. I stay to what we etaq growning up - that has made a difference to.

Stress can wear you down making you subseptable to these sort of things to.. Let's face it we have more on our plate now then we did when we were younger.

I had some luck with a sea salt, water, and something else (forget what it is now) that I would snort up thru my nose... you what believe the stuff that would come out. Sort of groose but that stuff that can build up there needs to get out... that's how sinus infections start. Allergies tend to close you up thus not letting thing drain normally.

I was diagnosed with chronic siusitis in 2004. In early 2005 I had surgery to open up my sinuses. Since then I have only had one sinus infection and it was not as severe as the ones I used to have.
