Main/ Rod bearings
I am pulling my motor on my road race/ street car to upgrade the oil pan and add oil drain backs to the heads. Its a 400 based 463. My question is what bearings are people using these days. Its been a while since I've freshened up thus motor so I'm taking advantage when it's out.

Does your crank have 3” mains, or 3.250” mains.
If it’s 3” aftermarket and not double cross drilled on the number 2 and 4 main then just as when stock from the factory you should run fully grooved main bearings If your running a aftermarket 3.250” crank then you should double check that it’s cross drilled and then run grooved upper bearings and non grooved lower for added oil film and crank support.

Clevitte77 are definitely the most consistent as far as oil clearance goes. King and Speed Pro bearings are great also.

Some will also depend on you crank actual diameter. Clevite STD vs King STD vs a King 0.001 are all different on mine

It's an eagle 4.25 stroke crank, 3" mains. Ill have to look if it is double cross drilled. The crank has never been turned and was in spec when I assembled the engine. It should not need to be ground but I'll make thar decisions when it is pulled and I mic it

I use SP 113 for the mains or 4040 which are 0.001" under. 7050 CH for rods. I use Calico to coat the bearings and you can tighten up the clearance a bit if needed.
