Can anyone please tell me what info I need to provide when ordering headers for the above mentioned car?
I thought I need to ask for "D" port heads for a 67 firebird.
The gentleman at the local speed shop seems to think that all pontiac V8's were oval, except HO Motors.
I just want to make sure I get the right headers.
Don't know why the guy at the speed shop is having such a hard time with these.
Thanks
CHRIS

They are D-ports!!! The guy sounds like a typical Chevy guy. He probably thinks that chevy & pontiac motor are the same. There are only 2 ports, a Round port header & a D-port header. He may also be going by the shape of the end ports on a D-port head that are oval shape. But the 2 center ports are a " D " shape & that is why they are called D-ports & not oval. Tell him to grab a Mr Gasket #550G header gasket off the shelf & you can show him the center ports shaped like a D

I do hope he is looking them up in his header parts book & not going by his memory. Because if he was looking in a book for a 67' firebird, it would ask for std D-port or round port for that body.

What brand of header are you looking for? Maybe PY would have them & save the guy at the speed shop a little guess work.

Ron

Chris,

Just look at the heads..If there oval then you need "D" port....Round you need round

Exactly what they just said. #62 heads are D ports. Round port heads, all of the ports are as round as a golf ball. D ports have D shaped middle ports and the end ports are oval shaped.
