Question Att: 69 GP 428 HO Automatic Owners

From an old post I do recall there was this reply from Poncho-mike.

QUOTE **
I have a copy of research generated by Fred Simmonds through PHS. It indicates there were 986 428HO automatic trans GPs of which 706 had C60 option (a/c).

If so, that would mean there were 986 total, of which 280 were non-a/c cars. I would think not having a/c would hurt the value of a GP, but that's just my opinion.

Mike

********

Wondering of those ~ 280 cars how many came with optional 3.90 gears ?
I have not seen many and wondering if anyone else has PHS with 3.90 gears ??

Thanx !

Lightbulb

3.90 gearing w/ HD Safe-T-Track is going to be super rare.
Get a chance would be interesting to see which casting number 8.2 GP r/e housing you have.

Speaking of A/C, anyone have an idea how many of the 706 '69 428HO GrandPrix with C60, were also optioned with Automatic Temperature Control C75???

you've got phs documented 3:90's and a/c?

that's an odd combo.

Default No..just non a/c cars referring to.

Mine is PHS documented 3.90 HD Safe-T-Track and of course no air cond.

All a/c cars only had up to 3.23 gear.

I am curious of those 280 non a/c automatic cars....How many got 3.90's ?

I will try to dig up the sheet that breaks down GP production. I don't think it will tell you how many automatics were equipped with the 3.90. It did break down close ratio vs wide ratio for the manual trannies, so I would assume the close ratio trans cars got the 3.90. Very few cars were non-a/c.

No Mark
Dave lives down near Chatham
Interesting that that 22 69 GP SJ 428 HO cars had M21 close ratio Muncie trans which was only coupled with 3:90 or 4 :33 rear axle.
Maybe use some % to figure out that an auto 69 GP SJ 428 HO (even though twice as many built as 4 speeds) 3:90 geared autos would be around 20-25 cars.

Hey OPH...any numbers from Fred for breakdown of "J" and "SJ" with HO option ?

As trishield states would think around 20 cars with HO Auto and 3.90 gear.

Any body on forum here have same car ?

Thanx guys really appreciate the info...keep it coming !

Pontiyak, unfortunately, no breakdown between J & model SJ on engines or transmissions.

Cutrone, very sweet ride!

Default Anybody with a H.O 3.90 car out there ....Hello ?

Thanx any way for the reply OPH....just thought someone may have some info. Oh well still really appreciate it !

Yeah Mark, car loves to burn the hides til the cows come home. My one buddy calls it the TWO TON TERROR .

It is pretty quick for a big ole GP....I think it could make even spank and embarass a Stage 1 Buick !!!
But that is still to be determined....

Sounds like a cool car!! I don't know about "spanking and embarassing" a Stage 1...these cars are brutal, not saying you couldn't beat one and it sure would be fun to watch.

MMARX : Trishield is my buddy and also has a 70 Stage 1 Rag, that I have razed him about. And yes you are correct the car is brutal.
But then again trishield is a very poor driver and is has reaction times of around 2.5 seconds. Hehehehe...

That's why I said it would be fun to watch. A Stage 1 'Vert is a pretty rare car in it's own right.
