Air Bleed screws - Tips?
Any tricks for getting to those air bleeds under the center carb?
Kinda a bitch to get to. Also, good starting point for the screws. 461 , 4 speed, Ram air 4 cam.

Starting point is 1 1/2 turns out from bottomed.
Use a piece of rubber vacuum hose with about a 3/16" hole about 4" long. works fine vs. trying to turn them with a screwdriver. If you have power brakes, you may have to swivel the vacuum fitting a little for better access to the driver's side screw.

With a little more work you can make them really convenient. I brazed pieces of speedometer cable into shallow drilled holes in the idle screw heads, ran them through brackets on the front carb, and put knobs on them (in the picture, the cables have black shrink tubing covering them). Been working great for three years now.

Agree, something many could fabricate with a bit of time.
I had a set of the same "cable adjusters" for the throttle screws made by EELCO in the 60s. Difference was the knobs snapped into the bracket which was fastened to the center screw on the center carb float bowl. I like Jack's deal much better as he has the "knobs" mounted on the front carb bowl and the cables are more of a straight shot vs the big bend in the cables on the EELCO parts. Tom V.

Naw. Simple and somewhat crude.
The Tri-Power mod I'm proud of is the adjustable power valve setting- doesn't even require removing an air cleaner, to adjust anywhere between 5 and 13 in.Hg. I've always disliked needing to tear into a carb if my initial guess was wrong for what setting a new engine would "like". [Before final assembly I calibrated it using a vacuum guage, so I can figure just how many flats to move the screwhead to get the setting I want] But wouldn't ya' know- my first guess at 8 in.Hg. for this engine was spot-on!. Haven't needed to utilize this feature...

Really like both of those modifications, neat and ingenious. I don't have any power valve related issues, but I think I'm going to do the mixture screw mod.

I didn't see where anyone mentioned but those screws meter fuel not air.

Actually they adjusts the amount of premixed F/A mixture from the idle circuit.
