Default 2004 GP GTP Heads Up Display issue

I just bought a nice 2004 GTP for next to nothing .....the heads up display is not working. Any advise appreciated before I start taking it apart. Have not looked for any advise online yet .....

I think that is a common problem with the Heads Up unit on that generation GP. I would google it because I seem to remember a fix some place for it.
