Default '65 big car differential code

Hey Guys, I have a stored complete rear end, tube is stamped with what is either a VE code or VF code. I know the V indicates a posi rear, VE and VF is either a 3.08 or 3.23 ratio. How do I I tell which ratio it is? Thanks!

Pull the rear cover, count the teeth, do the math. Both the 3.08 and 3.23 have a 13 tooth pinion gear and the ring gears are 3.08 40 teeth and 3.23 has 42 teeth.
