Default What paint should I use for the pinstripe on a 67

I want to paint the factory pinstripe on my 67. I ordered a stencil kit from Phoenix Graphics and I want to use the right paint. My car is Tyrol Blue, Parchment interior and a white top. I think a white stripe would look best. Has anyone used One Shot 103L Polar White If so is it close to Cameo Ivory? That paint is brush on, would I be better off having paint mixed and spraying it?

Yep, the white stripe would look nice with the blue. One Shot has been the pin stripe choice of paint for years. Can't speak to the color match but according to the TDS the colors can be intermixed if you want to experiment to match the Cameo Ivory. The TDS also says application can be by brush, roller, air brush or spray.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered both and mixed them for a close match of cameo white. I brushed it on and I'm happy with the way it came out.

The stripes were hand painted. Have a professional pinstriper paint them on for $100.00. He'll use One Shot. Not worth the hassle and stencils leave an edge, hand painting don't.

I guess you didn’t read my post or look at the photo. I painted it today. I pulled the stencil off almost immediately to soften the edge. One shot is enamel and flows out.
I did call 2 people that do pin striping and neither showed. The lowest price I was quoted was $175.

Factory Pinstripes.

The Very early ‘65 were actually painted by hand. Kinda crude sometimes.

Shortly after they found a more precise tool for applying the stripes called a “Beugler / Wheelhead tool”.

Here is a 65 2+2 and a 65 GTO using the Beugler tool.

Chris.

One of the guys that didn’t show said he used a wheel.head tool. Problem is that he’s retired and only does a job now and then. The other gut didn’t want to only do one job. He wanted me to line up at least another person to make it worth his time.

Like I said I’m happy with the end result and I didn’t have to beg anyone to take my money.
