Default Voltage regulator

Does anyone know who makes and sells conversion kits for voltage regulators. Looking for the solid state conversion. Thanks Tom

Corvette vendors carry them. Some on Ebay too.

At parts stores, Wells brand, VR715. At least, that would be the one for the remote regulator alternators.

Are these solid state conversion kits any better than the entire solid state regulators you can buy for $20, or, is it best to find an original style points unit? I want reliability and always question the cheap chinesium stuff.

If you want to update your original date coded regulator the kit is the way to go. Otherwise the wells unit works well. The Delco Remy cap will replace the Wells cap

Be cautious of the Chinese units. I bought one from my local auto electric shop and it was bad; so was it's replacement. I didn't even bother to take it back, just reinstalled the original one.

Thanks for the replies. Ended up buying the conversion kit since it has good reviews and is made in the USA.

Comes with detailed instructions. Easy to mess up the base if you wing it. I used a small drill press and it took me about 30 minutes.

Thanks. I am hoping everything comes off the base so that I can replate it. Is that correct?

IIRC yes. Some like to keep the resistors on the back for a realistic look but they are no longer required.
