Interesting use. I put paste wax on my quarters before racing and wipe wax & tire rubber off after.

I just used it this weekend to clean the rubber off my drag car, works great but messy, you need allot of clean rags.
And don't forget to wear rubber gloves, if not you'll spend just as much time cleaning the rubber off your hands.

If you don’t spray quarters before hand it’s a pita to get it off wd helps but like you said lots of new rags. Always spray before much easier but still takes time to clean.

An old friend of mine (who wasn't a painter - he was a great mechanic though) used to spray paint/rattle can half the stuff he owned on a fairly regular basis in the 70's and 80's.
Lawnmowers, kids bikes, dirt bikes, mailboxes, on and on.

He ALWAYS wiped everything down with WD-40 before he sprayed it - and waited for it to evaporate.
FREAKED ME OUT -- i WAS a painter .
It still makes me laugh, but somehow it worked out okay.
And he never changed his ways no matter what i said.

I guess he had to repaint his stuff on a "regular basis" due to the WD-40 residue effecting adherence, lol!

No , he was always just getting new (old/used) stuff and painted almost everything before putting it into service/use.
Or re-selling it.

He should have become a painter probably, but never made it past rattle cans.
One time he bought 2 cases of Blue Plasti-Kote aerosol to paint a 63 Step-Side Chevy Truck.

Amazingly i WAS able to talk him out of that.
I worked at an Auto Paint store at the time and gave him the paint in order to get him to return all the Plasti-Kote aerosol.
His uncle shot it outside next to his business with Dulux Enamel.
Of course, he wiped the whole truck down with WD-40 before they sprayed it.

still blows my mind whenever i recall those days
