Default NEW MOPAR 1000 HP 426 CRATE ENGINE

for you to be aware of on the street.

The 426 engine is cool, glad to see it back on the streets in the newest form:
Aluminum Block, Supercharger, EFI, etc

The Supercharger is made by the IHI guys who do both Turbo Stuff and Supercharger stuff for the OEMs. Worked with a bunch of them over the years and they have a lot of talent there. 1000 HP Crate Engine. Who would have ever THUNK IT.

A display engine is/was at SEMA

MOPAR Monster – 1,000 Horsepower Factory 426 HEMI Crate Engine Unleashed at the 2018 SEMA Show #MTSEMA18

Just a heads up for you street racer guys. The Mopar Guys already have a 750 HP engine in several of their production street cars.

Tom V.

If I did not own a Pontiac, a Mopar would be my second choice

Wow! That sounds awesome. Did you happen to notice what fuel they were using to get that done?

Hard to believe we are having to add power adders to 700hp engines to keep up with oem and crate engines.

The aftermarket already has 1450-1500 HP Coyote "Street Cars"

(This is an OLD VIDEO) 1400+ Rear Wheel HP Dyno test.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeDphCW3sm0

The deal is getting the car/engine to pass the emissions standards.
Chrysler apparently has figured out how to do that at 1000 HP engine hp.

A 5.4L Ford Engine Charlie is about 331 Cubic Inches, Charlie.

1450 rear wheel hp, call it 1500 plus out of the engine for easy math.
call it 4.5 HP per cid. Course you are dealing with a 4 valve engine too.

Not sure if these 1000 HP crate engines have to meet any emission standards. I think they sneak by with the famous, "intended for off street use only" loophole. But the production 700+HP Demon and others do. The hemi has a couple of design features going for it in the emission arena. First, it's not really a hemi in a traditional sense. It has a squish and quench pad which really helps create mixture motion at low RPM's. Add to that, the dual spark plug design, which allows complete combustion of very lean mixtures. But those pads are small and the semi-hemi chamber still breathes very well at higher RPM. Of course very little of the power potential is used in any EPA certification test. The engineers are able to slide these engines past the EPA by understanding the test protocals, and tweaking the PCM software to allow clean combustion within the test parameters. When you call for power, these engines are anything but clean, other than what the converters can grab. Long live HP.

They have the Aluminator NA crate Coyote, in 5.0 and 5.2 guises. With the early 2019 launch of the next GT500 (apparently with a supercharged 5.2 and "+700hp" there will probably be a crate option of that car's engine by SEMA 2019

Down here we got factory supercharged 5L Coyotes (codenamed "Miami") in our Ford Falcons. They were de-tuned to approximately 450hp but able to make 650-750rwhp pretty easily (running low 10s/9s in 1900-2100kg cars)

Rumor has it that the new 2019 Shelby GT500 will have a 700+ hp production engine in the vehicle.
This engine will be supercharged. An aftermarket company is currently selling a 700 hp aftermarket
"kit vehicle" with a 3.0L per revolution supercharger.

Very believable really, as as I did a bunch of work on the Ford V-10 Engine using a 3.3L per revolution screw supercharger.
The Concept Vehicle was done 10 years ago and called SUPER CHIEF. Pics attached. So doing a Belt Driven Inter-cooled
Supercharged 700+ HP Mustang would be a plug and play deal.

A BS document (supposedly from my company with LOTS of Errors claims 720 hp). Engine would be conventional crankshaft.

Really sad that Pontiac Engineering is not around these days.

One of my old Bosses, Chief Engineer Jim Clarke, told me several times that he was always a Pontiac Fan as a kid and admired the engineering that came out of Pontiac.

I am talking 3 valve, 4 valve, overhead camshaft, long head bolts connecting to the main caps, EFI, etc. Many things that Malcolm Mackellar had previously looked at in the early 60s.

Here is a picture of a "young" Mac Mackellar and his car & engine. The only thing he did not do was BOOST.
(Thanks to Wallace for the car pics). Sorry for the double pic.

WOW!! Thank you Tom I never saw that engine before. I wonder where it is and how much power did it make? I always love to read your posts and look forward to more.

GM gave that car to Malcolm as a retirement gift for all of his years of service to PMD.

After his passing the car disappeared.

In their own UNIQUE ways, both cars are very special to the fans of both brands.

Charlie, Wallace Racing already has a bunch of these same pictures on his website.

You might want to visit there.

Here are a few pics, some he has and some he might not have.

Pontiac was really big on OHC engines in 1964.

Tom V.

The last picture of Mickey Thompsons special blower heads are heads I could have purchased a few years ago at Norwalk.
Tom S and I talked to the owner of the heads for a good while that time. They were for sale. Exhaust and Intake ports all on the outside of the head (exhaust side). Look at head on far left of the engine.

Thank you Tom. Is there 2 timing belts or just one?
