Default Intake change ideas?

I’m thinking about changing the intake from the Holley single plane. I have a few pre Smoger qjet manifolds, a 72 with the egr bulge on the bottom and the original 79 with the “D” shaped secondaries. With my #96 heads I realize the easiest is to go with the 79 intake. Would I be sacrificing any power and are there any other issues doing that?

The 72 Intake is the one I would use + there's no gasket issues!

#96 heads are 71' 400 model heads, Therefore i would use a 68-71 pre smog intake and you're good. No issue with the exhaust crossover also if you use one of those years.

A 72 isn't going to have an EGR bulge in it. That started in 73.

It sounds like your currently running a Holley street dominator. Out of curiosity, why do you want to change the intake?

I tried that 20 years ago and it leaked. 70 was the last pre smog intake. I have one and a 68.

Then it mus t be a 73. I thought 7 1 and 72_were the same.

I've seen one of those "bulge" intakes on a 75.
