I thought they were rare untill I bought one now I see quite a bit of them on the internet. But mine is a 400 4spd car now in black and staying that way.

As I recall,they made MORE 455 4 speed T/A's in 76 than 400 4 speeds.

came across one (455 4 spd) for sale in decent shape for around here this summer with 80 percent original paint. couple small rust pops around the quarters and it looked like driver's fender and door was repainted long ago. guy was asking 8k. if i had the cash, i would have splurged. needed interior redone as well as the paint, but i never see anything of that age in that condition around here.

I think they made around 8,000 455 4-speeds in '76. However, I have not seen many of them in Goldenrod Yellow.

I don't think there is any info on the production numbers by color. Goldenrod Yellow would likely be one of the rarer ones if not the rarest color option.

I looked at one near Asheville, NC last summer. A little too much work for me. No idea how common, etc.

They're pretty rare. I see one (455 and yellow) on Ebay about every 6 months. I was thinking of buying one of those until I found my SE.

I grew up in Asheville, back in the 80's there was a bad a$$, yellow 455 4speed car that ran around town. Oh man I wanted that car. Interesting that was the only one I have ever seen. Could be the same car ? See you in Anderson this summer at Hartwell.

Car in bold was never produced. Perhaps you meant the W-72 400 in '79?

He probably meant 1976 not 1979

I wish my '76 was yellow instead of white.

I know of one Goldenrod Yellow 76 455 4-spd project car in NC. It's missing the original motor/trans, but the VIN confirms it is a 455 car. A buddy of mine owns the car and is planning to restore it.

Somebody has a nice one here in the South Metro Atlanta area. I see it occasionally at a small carshow in the town of Palmetto. Goldenrod/Black...can't remember if it's a 4spd 455 car...It may be 4spd 400. Nice car though. Very nice original condition or older resto I believe.

I saw this '77 in Marietta a couple of yrs ago. You rarely see the golden rod at all nevermind the year.It was a nice car..Wrong wheels but a nice car. It came from Kansas City with a loooong papertrail. The guy said that the dealer swapped the wheels to make the sale. Late '77.
