Default Functional Ram Air on 1974 Formula

There is a discussion going on over at Trans Am Country (link below) regarding functional Ram Air being available on a 1974 Formula. I have posted a couple of times but thought maybe someone else might have some additional information to straighten this out. Thanks-Kyle.

You should go to www.78ta.com at the top of the page it has a contact link. You should give them an e-mail. They would know.

I'm not a member of Transamcountry, but I can tell you that A Ram Air Air Cleaner was available as an option.I have parted out a couple of them. One was a 400 4spd and the other was a 455 auto car. Both PHS reports call out for the Heavy Duty Air Cleaner ( Ram Air ).I sold one of those Air Cleaners to a fellow PYer by the name of carguy66.He has a 1974 455 Ram Air Formula.

Has anyone told him to get PHS invoicing to see what he has? Also, the transmission type (Muncie or Borg-Warner) is dependant on when it was built.

Kyle, could you ask if he can read what's printed on the air cleaner decal? Or, could he get a clear picture of it?

HFR, I do not believe he has possession of the car yet. However I have asked him to post a photo of the decal when he has time. Someone finally mentioned PHS so hopefully he will get that ordered.

The air cleaner I have on my 72 is actually a 73-74 style RA pan that I bought. Found out all the RA pan details after I bought it. Try a search on this site, there has been a lot of info in 70-73 section on pans.

I used to troll arround over there, its a SE or "Bandit" crowd.
Nice guys but a little light on the tech & history of "early" birds.

I got a lot of answeres that were printed in the Paddock or classic industries catalogs
the guys swore by "I one heard" tech like it was gospel.

As an aside from the functional RA Formula hoods (I'm talking '74 only)...

What are peoples take on the scoops being opened up from the factory on A/C cars? I've owned a few and the 350 ones were closed (non-A/C), the 400 one was closed (non-A/C) and two A/C ones I have now are both opened up. I know they may have been opened up after purchasing, but both look the same (have the small lip showing).

Hello, just joined PY and the car that brought up the discussion is mine.

I received the PHS back and it did come with the RPO WU3.

I looked at my air filter lid but the stickers are no longer around.

Ive been reading some other posts about "how many were made" of other cars, any idea how many 74 Formula 400 4-spd cars built? I did read somewhere there was 1,478 Ram Air hood cars in 74.

Thanks.
