Default Hughe's flexplate Vs. ATI flexplate

Somehow, I snapped a tooth off my ATI flexplate Saturday night during rounds. Seems like every 2-3 yrs this happens with no clue why.
Is anyone using the Hughes flexplate? Its half the cost of the ATI but I'm also sure its probably made on the other side of the Pacific. The ATI is a nice piece and I have no objections getting another one, just looking for an alternative if possible.

Can’t speak for hughes but after losing some teeth on a Chinese flexplate, I had real good luck with JW the wheel.

Decided to just go with another ATI and chalk the lost tooth to an act of God. Just couldn't purchase the Hays/Hughe's knowing that its more than like a chinese piece.

Crest has been shown to prevent tooth decay in a program of regular oral hygiene, and a professional care program...………...

It's not like the ring gears are made of anything other than cold roll steel. I have actually welded up broken teeth on flexplates and filed them back to original contours, and had good luck with the repairs holding up in daily drivers.

I might see about having the ring repaired and keep it as a spare.

For between $200-$450 bucks, I'd be looking at some way to salvage that part for a relatively minor problem, but I never did like replacing parts I could repair myself.

Got a link ? I assume the "good" China stuff. There is such a thing but have to be careful. I bought one of their non SFI balancers a long time ago, POS.
I have a Hawks SFI flexplate in a box, doubt I will use it with the new build.
Trying to come up with something in the middle between mine and the billet piece.
That this is awesome, that is one big hunk a billet they start out with. Bigger than one you would use to make a crank.

I lost a tooth on a couple of TCI flex plates over the last ten years or so. I switched to the ATI based on threads posted here on PY. I’m into my third season (I think), on the ATI. So for so good with the ATI, however; I think the stress of cranking a hi compression motor work hardens the teeth over time, leading to eventual failure. I don’t think there is anything you can really do about it. At least that’s my theory.
