'88 firebird- good deal or not?
so i'm going to look at this 1988 firebird in a couple hours, and having never even been in a 3rd gen firebird, much less driven one, i was wondering if there was anything to look out for or anything i should know before buying.
it's a 3.8L V6, automatic, black with a tan interior and cold A/C. i've heard that the buick V6's they used in these '80's GM cars were damn near bulletproof, and durability is great, but i don't even know if that's true. the guy wants $1,900 for it. he says it runs and drives good.
what do you guys think, would this car be worth it as a daily driver while i rebuild my wagon's engine? once my wagon is on the road again, i'd probably make the firebird a turbo car, but that's neither here nor there. i need a daily driver, and it seems like the firebird would work, unless there are any objections. i could also go after a '92 mustang 5.0 LX hatchback that's ugly as hell (it's a white hatch with a grey interior, plus a boxy mustang), but that guy wants $2,250. i only have $2,500 here to spend. basically, if they're both good cars mechanically and there's no reason to ignore either, it comes down to a good looking black firebird or an ugly white mustang.
