Default Vin tag mounting

I bought this 67 GTO and am in the process of restoration. I sent the vin number for the build information. All of the information matches the ID tag on the firewall. My question is....How is the vin tag supposed to be attached to the door jamb? Special rivets? Screws? The tag came in an envelope with the title and paperwork. The ID tag has never been removed and all appears to be legit

Yep! Potential for a felony crime as well as a Lemans turned into a GTO for added value or stolen vehicle. Anybody missing a car?

Default Vin tag

Thanks Jeff. That helps. Responses like the Chiefs is the reason I don't visit these forums very often. I have the frame done and the vin matches the car. The front fenders are re-pops and I have to replace the rear floor pan but everything else is good. I even have the original motor, but I'm sure it would upset some to hear that I'm installing a fresh 455. It's my car, so I'll do it my way!

Nothing new. This and many other threads on the subject > http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=845235

People shouldn't ask questions if they only want to hear what makes them feel good. All forums are for information, whether it be good news or not so good news.

If you do not like what you hear on a forum I suggest you call your state's DMV and ask them. I'm sure they would be very interested in hearing your question.

Well, there you go Chief! Simple question....Which rivets to use. Don't need a disertation, just what is correct. Got my answer. All is good.

Make sure you install it where it can be read from the outside of the car, i.e., the '242' is at the top and reads down.
