67 GTO wheel with disc brakes
I’m looking for a spare tire wheel that will work for my 67 GTO with factory disc brakes. Steel or Rally 1 is okay. 14x6
Ames and TPP say their wheels will not work with disc brakes because not enough back spacing. What they sell has 4” back spacing. From TPP: “The 14x6 wheels the factory put on had a special hoop to work with the caliper; these reproductions most likely use a standard hoop that will not clear.” From Ames: “No options exist for 14 inch wheels that will fit disc brakes in the aftermarket that we know of.” Any ideas? |

Nice calipers! Are these fairly new Scarebird?

My 67 GTO also has it's original Delco Moraine 4 piston disc brake setup, and I ran a repop 14 x 6 Rally I wheel for a while with no problems. It came from AMES (not sure who made it for them). This was some years ago, but the wheel was a reproduction.
I wonder if the sellers mean that their wheel won't fit over aftermarket disc brake set ups.

Yes, we had them made. The use the same pads and bolts ar the Celebrity units but have a larger piston for better match.
