Default WTB: 350 block & small valve heads

Just putting out some feelers for a '70 up 350 block (wanna 350 block both early/late motor mount bosses) and possibly a pr. of some small valve heads.

Looking for something fairly local to me (dont wanna ship) so looking for something in the NE. Ill. (Chicago/burbs) -or- SE Wisc. (Milwaukee/burbs) area mostly (60/80 mi. or so ok).

Not in a big hurry to do this either,,,it's a long term project just so you know...

Block needs to be std. bore and bores need to be in pretty good shape so they'll clean up @ .030" over (already have pistons).

As for the small valve heads, options are pretty wide open there, only catch there is they need to be '67 up castings (again, already have pistons),so lemme know what you got and I'll consider my options.

Bare head castings would be OK too.

Looking to use this for a 350/383 stroker build (.030" over 350 w/a 3" main 4" stroke crank).

Thanks for reading this,I will drop back in from time to time to check on this thread, but it's probably gonna be best to PM me to get my attention or such,as I'm liable to forget about this ad,LOL.

Bret P.

Being a Pontiac person I hope you do know that by building a stroker 383 is not the same as building a chebby 383. They wont have the same performance ratings , this is a PONTIAC. Not trying to be well you know but just trying to watch out for a fellow Pontiac guy.

You're right...The Pontiac will have awesome torque curve that the chevy can only dream of...

Along the same lines as what Ace did with his 350/383 stroker as well.

Matter of fact that's where my pistons came from.

You & I know what's what here, and obviously rex is 100% clueless,so lets just ignore him from here on out,ok.

Take care Tom,and season greetings.

Bret, Buddy of mine has a '70 350 he pulled out of his Lemans this spring, 65,000 miles on it. Complete except the carb. and intake. Ran good he replaced it with a 400. If your interested I will get a price from him. Not sure if we are to far away, but only about 10 miles off interstate 39. Could possibly meet you near Rockford?

A Pontiac 383 will no doubt out perform a Chevy 383 with all else being equal.

Still sniffing around to see what (if anything) is out there before spring cleaning/swap meet season comes around.

And remember, strictly looking somewhat local to me,as shipping just kills the "deal factor" on heavy ~ not overly expensive parts like these.

Anyhow,lemme know,thanks for reading this.

I've got a 350 block to it's standard bore.
Early 70's had the beveled edge pistons.
It was a running motor when torn down (years ago)
The hardest part would be dragging it out of the back room. LOL $50.00
I'm in mich. if your interested, Might have some heads also-gota check.

Default 71 GT -37 350"

I have a rebuilder which is complete from the intake to the pan. It's been inside for five or so years and spun regularly. I purchased it to possibly rebuild and to serve as a means of setting a '63 for forward trans and establishing drive line angle. It was purchased along with manual transmission parts which were needed to locate and install the "trans hump". Anyway . . . my friend assured me that the engine ran but did NOT smoke and simply needed to be rebuilt. He had placed a 455 in it's place. I believe that it has over 100,000 miles but you could talk to him and I'm sure that he could tell you whatever you want to know.

Good Luck, Paul

Thanks for the offers Paul & GT,but Michigan is a bit further than I really wanna go for one,gas for my dually alone would kill the "budget minded build" factor for this deal, sorta the same as shipping does.

Could'nt find the one in Milwaukee CL,must've been in an ad w/other stuff or such, would need a link or such to find it.

Anyhow,thanks for the leads ya'll.

Hey Brett, Just checking to see if your still wanting a block? I have that '74 block I could bring it to Jefferson if you still need it. Let me know.

You still looking Bret? I have a standard bore 4 bolt 350 block and crank. Probably wouldn't see it till the Meltdown Drags in Byron Il July 18-20 if you could make the trip down.
