Yes, it needs to be flipped and bolted to the head. You want it close/tight to the head so the bit won’t try to flex and walk into the original slot.

If you Ebay search pontiac valve springs you can find Spotts selling, then use the sellers other items button to see all his auctions and theres NO Spott eye push rod tool auction at the time of this posting

Note this is a seven year old discussion that was just bumped to the top. My understanding is Spotts isn't making the tool anymore.
